Costa Rica
“Under the Costa Rican sun, every dirt road leads to adventure, every jungle echoes with life, and every beach becomes home beneath the stars.”
Costa Rica
In March 2022, we embarked on an unforgettable journey to discover Costa Rica. As the world slowly reopened after Covid, we set our sights on this lush paradise, known for its wild nature and the freedom of camping almost anywhere. With a bit of research and a sense of adventure, we decided to explore the country the best way we could: by road.
After a few days of acclimatization in San José, we picked up our trusty 4×4 pickup truck with a rooftop tent and began a month-long journey that took us across the country. From jungle-covered coastlines to misty cloud forests, Costa Rica revealed one breathtaking view after another.
In the vibrant northern Caribbean, we explored the wild beauty of Tortuguero National Park and soaked up the relaxed rhythm of Puerto Viejo, near the Panamanian border. Crossing the mountainous spine of the country, we made our way to the Pacific coast, where we wandered through Corcovado National Park and spent peaceful afternoons on the sands of Playa Hermosa.
To wrap up the trip, we explored the cloud forests of Monteverde, chased waterfalls in La Fortuna, and circled back to San José, hearts full and cameras overflowing. One month, countless memories, and the kind of adventure that stays with you forever.

Discover Costa Rica, a compact paradise of volcanoes, rainforests, beaches, and wildlife. This is a country that captures your heart with raw nature, incredible biodiversity, and a sense of freedom that is hard to match. Whether you are hiking, driving, camping, or simply breathing it all in, Costa Rica offers endless ways to connect with nature and yourself.
For a first visit, we recommend spending at least two weeks to truly appreciate Costa Rica’s diversity. From misty mountains to steamy jungle, from relaxed surf towns to remote wildlife reserves, each region has its own rhythm, its own story, and its own kind of magic.
We started in San José, where the journey began. While the capital is useful for logistics, the real adventure started on the road to the Caribbean coast. In Tortuguero, we kayaked through mangroves and spotted monkeys and caimans among the trees. Further south, in Punta Uva, we camped under the palms, explored the coast by bike, and reached Manzanillo, where the jungle meets the sea.
On the Pacific coast, we trekked through the heart of Corcovado National Park, where we encountered monkeys, tapirs, and the unforgettable sight of scarlet macaws flying above the canopy. We filmed the coast at Playa Uvita with our drone and crossed by boat to the Nicoya Peninsula, where we woke up one morning to the sight of a sea turtle nesting on the beach.
As we headed inland, Costa Rica showed us yet another side. The cloud forests of Monteverde brought rain, mist, and mystery, while La Fortuna impressed with its dramatic waterfalls and views of Arenal Volcano.
Costa Rica is easy to travel. Roads may be bumpy, but the experience is smooth. English is widely spoken in tourist areas, the currency is the Costa Rican colón, and credit cards are accepted in most places. The climate is tropical year-round, but each region has its own microclimate, so flexibility is key.
Costa Rica is more than a destination, it is a feeling. Whether you are hiking, relaxing, or waking to the sounds of howler monkeys in the morning, every moment feels alive. Explore our blogs for travel tips, routes, and inspiration to help you discover Costa Rica in your own way. Pura vida.
