El Hierro
“El Hierro, remote, authentic, raw and breathtaking”
El Hierro
Discover El Hierro, the smallest and perhaps most distinctive of the Canary Islands. Located on the western edge of the archipelago, this raw volcanic island offers a unique blend of wild nature, silence, and simplicity. During the winter of 2020/2021, we spent nearly eight weeks here, and it left a lasting mark on us.
Compared to more popular islands like Gran Canaria or Tenerife, El Hierro feels like a world apart. It is quiet, unspoiled, and full of soul. We took our time, staying in different locations across the island, discovering its many faces, from jagged cliffs and lava fields to misty pine forests and sun-drenched fishing villages.
It is not just the scenery that made us fall in love with El Hierro. It was the pace of life, the local warmth, and the deep sense of peace that gradually settled in. This is not a place you rush through, it is a place you absorb. El Hierro welcomed us like a temporary home, and we know we will return, maybe for even longer next time.
