La Gomera
“La Gomera: raw nature meets authentic charm, a remote paradise that reconnects your soul to the wild.”
La Gomera
From November 21, 2020, to January 4, 2021, we stayed on La Gomera, the second smallest of the Canary Islands, and spent six unforgettable weeks discovering this beautiful and quiet paradise. After a brief acclimatization on Tenerife, we arrived by ferry in San Sebastián, where we rented a car to begin our island adventure.
La Gomera’s peaceful energy and rugged volcanic landscapes made it the perfect retreat at that time in our lives. It was the beginning of our world travels, and we could not have asked for a better place to reflect, recharge, and reconnect through yoga, hiking, and silence.
One of the highlights was our stay in Tazo, a remote mountain village that required a bit of courage to reach. But once there, we were rewarded with incredible views and complete tranquillity. From this base, we explored the island’s diverse hiking trails and natural beauty. Memorable walks led us to Playa Iguala, Alto de Garajonay, and the misty forests of El Cedro. Along the coast, Valle Gran Rey and Playa de la Caleta offered peaceful days by the sea, while the Mirador de Abrante gave us jaw-dropping views of Agulo and Tenerife in the distance.
La Gomera’s slow rhythm, timeless villages, and untouched nature offered exactly what we needed, especially during the first Covid-winter, when the world felt uncertain. The island embraced us, and for nature lovers like us, it was the perfect place to feel free and grounded all at once.
